Go Bunny & Go Galaxy

There was a game on the Amiga called Elevation. It was so much fun that my sister and I would play it for hours. Go Bunny, and a clone of it called Go Galaxy, are my attempts at the same mechanic: you tap to move, tap again to reverse, and at the end of each row the bunny hops up and waits for you.

Updated September 2026 — Go Bunny rebuilt as Storybook Garden

Native SwiftUI and SpriteKit for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, with new illustrations. All 32 of the original levels load in the new engine unchanged.

The rules live in a separate package with no view or device code in it at all, which is what lets one app target serve both a phone and a television without the game behaving differently on either. The arena is always 1080×1800 in its own coordinates and the simulation steps at a fixed 1/120th of a second, so resizing a window or moving to a bigger screen can never change what collides with what.

My favourite part isn't in the game at all. There's a script that plays the whole campaign: it searches every one of the 32 levels using the real movement and collision rules — ordinary taps, waits and reversals, no invulnerability, no skipped obstacles — and then independently replays the route it found to prove it works.

It turned up three levels that couldn't actually be completed, which I then fixed. Every level now has a saved death-free route in the test suite, replayed at 30, 60 and 120Hz to catch anything that depends on frame rate. It proves a level is possible; whether it's any fun is still a question for a human.
